Implant-supported crowns and bridges

What is an implant-supported crown?

A dental implant is a prosthetic device made of titanium that acts as an artificial root. The screw-shaped implant is anchored in the jawbone below the gum line. If you have missing or badly damaged teeth, our prosthodontists can recommend implants to hold and support a restoration, such as a crown or bridge.

The crown, which mimics the appearance of a natural tooth, is attached to the implant. The restoration then becomes permanent and you can eat, smile and speak more easily and naturally.

Is an implant-supported crown the right treatment for you?

Thanks to advances in technology, more and more patients who are missing one or more teeth are good candidates for dental implant crowns. For this solution to work, you must have good oral health and enough jawbone to accommodate the implant.

Implant-supported crowns offer many advantages:

  • The restoration looks natural and is long-lasting.
  • The implant can be used as an anchor for future restorations.
  • The solution preserves the enamel of adjacent teeth.
  • May eliminate the need for removable dentures.
